The Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord was one of the two parishes of the Diocese of Paranaque which had the privileged to be visited by the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima on February 14, 2009. The world famous Pilgrim Virgin Statue officially enshrined in Portugal, and has been brought to many archdiocesan churches in more than 100 countries in the world, came all the way from Iloilo.

The welcome celebration commenced at the Verdant covered court where a short program was held. This was led by our parish priest, Fr. August Pulido, Fr. Tito Ranola and the council officers. The participants, including the members of the different parish ministries and organizations, the parishioners, officials of Brgy. Pamplona 3 and visitors from other parishes of the Diocese of Paranaque, recited the rosary and rendered Marian songs. A procession followed passing through the main streets of Verdant Acres, Camella/Manuela A, Manuela Integrated, along the University of Perpetual Help campus, all the way to the Parish. Members of the Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion carried the statue. Others lined up the streets with lighted candles and the Marian blue and white flag. Petals of roses were strewn along the way. The members of the MBG dressed in native kimona danced the Karakol. The University of Perpetual Help Drum and Lyre played the music during the procession.

After Fr. August’ formal welcome of the statue in the Parish church, Mr. Carl Malburg, Custodian/Director of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue Foundation, Inc., gave a short talk about the role of Our Lady of Fatima in bringing the message of hope and peace. He called for prayer, conversion and penance in reparation for sins.

At 6:30 P.M., a concelebrated mass was officiated by Bishop Jesse Mercado, Fr. August Pulido, Fr. Tito Ranola, Fr. Rene Frias and Fr. Melvin Castro. Bishop Mercado crowned the Virgin Pilgrim Statue after the mass. A vigil with songs and prayers ensued until 12:00 midnight. After the 8:00 A.M. mass of the following day, the statue was transferred to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Pasig City.

The Emapalico Homeowners Association, in coordination with the Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord, held a Marian Exhibit in its Multi-purpose Hall on February 2 to 11, 2009. Present for the ribbon cutting ceremony on the first day were Congresswoman Cynthia A. Villar, and Fr. August Pulido, who earlier officiated the 7:30 AM mass. With them were Ms. Wilhelmina E, Tobias, the president of the Homeowners Association and forefront of the exhibit, Ms Dolores A. Real, the Parish Village Council Coordinator and other guests.

Thirty eight Marian statues and icons from the different municipalities of Cavite and the cities of Muntinlupa and Las Pinas were included in the exhibit. For more informative viewing, a description was attached to each statue. Most prominent among the statues were those of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Immaculate Senora de Penafrancia, Nuestra Senora delos Remedios, Nuestra Senora Mater Purissima and Mater Angustia.

For nine consecutive nights, the homeowners and the parishioners of the Last Supper of Our Lord prayed the rosary. At daytime, Mr. Ricardo Vida, one of the Homeowners Association’s Board of Directors took charge in welcoming visitors.

Capping the exhibit was a 5:30 P.M. procession last February 11 to honor the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The procession started at Emapalico Homes to the Parish Church. After the 7:00 P.M. mass, Fr. August Pulido likewise performed the blessing of the sick in the observance of the World Day of the Sick.
