Our Lady of Fatima
International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima

The Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord was one of the two parishes of the Diocese of Paranaque which had the privileged to be visited by the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima on February 14, 2009. The world famous Pilgrim Virgin Statue officially enshrined in Portugal, and has been brought to many archdiocesan churches in more than 100 countries in the world, came all the way from Iloilo.
The welcome celebration commenced at the Verdant covered court where a short program was held. This was led by our parish priest, Fr. August Pulido, Fr. Tito Ranola and the council officers. The participants, including the members of the different parish ministries and organizations, the parishioners, officials of Brgy. Pamplona 3 and visitors from other parishes of the Diocese of Paranaque, recited the rosary and rendered Marian songs. A procession followed passing through the main streets of Verdant Acres, Camella/Manuela A, Manuela Integrated, along the University of Perpetual Help campus, all the way to the Parish. Members of the Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion carried the statue. Others lined up the streets with lighted candles and the Marian blue and white flag. Petals of roses were strewn along the way. The members of the MBG dressed in native kimona danced the Karakol. The University of Perpetual Help Drum and Lyre played the music during the procession.
After Fr. August’ formal welcome of the statue in the Parish church, Mr. Carl Malburg, Custodian/Director of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue Foundation, Inc., gave a short talk about the role of Our Lady of Fatima in bringing the message of hope and peace. He called for prayer, conversion and penance in reparation for sins.
At 6:30 P.M., a concelebrated mass was officiated by Bishop Jesse Mercado, Fr. August Pulido, Fr. Tito Ranola, Fr. Rene Frias and Fr. Melvin Castro. Bishop Mercado crowned the Virgin Pilgrim Statue after the mass. A vigil with songs and prayers ensued until 12:00 midnight. After the 8:00 A.M. mass of the following day, the statue was transferred to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Pasig City.

The Emapalico Homeowners Association, in coordination with the Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord, held a Marian Exhibit in its Multi-purpose Hall on February 2 to 11, 2009. Present for the ribbon cutting ceremony on the first day were Congresswoman Cynthia A. Villar, and Fr. August Pulido, who earlier officiated the 7:30 AM mass. With them were Ms. Wilhelmina E, Tobias, the president of the Homeowners Association and forefront of the exhibit, Ms Dolores A. Real, the Parish Village Council Coordinator and other guests.
Thirty eight Marian statues and icons from the different municipalities of Cavite and the cities of Muntinlupa and Las Pinas were included in the exhibit. For more informative viewing, a description was attached to each statue. Most prominent among the statues were those of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Immaculate Senora de Penafrancia, Nuestra Senora delos Remedios, Nuestra Senora Mater Purissima and Mater Angustia.
For nine consecutive nights, the homeowners and the parishioners of the Last Supper of Our Lord prayed the rosary. At daytime, Mr. Ricardo Vida, one of the Homeowners Association’s Board of Directors took charge in welcoming visitors.
Capping the exhibit was a 5:30 P.M. procession last February 11 to honor the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The procession started at Emapalico Homes to the Parish Church. After the 7:00 P.M. mass, Fr. August Pulido likewise performed the blessing of the sick in the observance of the World Day of the Sick.

Our Parish, the Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord was blessed with the privilege of being one of the only two parishes in the Diocese of Paranaque to be visited on February 14, 2009 by the world famous International Pilgrim Statue of Our lady of Fatima. The Pilgrim Virgin was sculpted by Jose Thedim in 1947 according to the description of Sr. Lucia, one of the children who saw the Virgin Mary. So far, the Pilgrim Statue has visited more than 100 countries around the world.
From Iloilo City, the Pilgrim Virgin Statue arrived at the Verdant covered court around 3:00 P.M. and was warmly welcomed by our Parish Priest, Fr. August Pulido, Fr. Tito Ranola, the parishioners of the Last Supper of Our Lord, Visitors and Barangay Officials of Pamplona 3. A short welcome program and praying of the Rosary with Marian songs after each mystery was rendered. After the program, a procession of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue carried and protected the members of the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion escorted by motorcycle traffic enforcers with the Perpetual School Drum and Lyre playing. The procession passed through the main streets of Verdant Acre. Camella/Manuela IV-A, Manuela Integrated and UPHR. Members of the different parish ministries and organizations as well as Village Homeowners who joined the procession and those who lined along the way with lighted candles on the side streets, waved the Marian blue and white flags while chanting praises of God’s goodness. Many are awed and in tears as they watched the solemn statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Petals of roses and flowers were strewn along the procession. MBG members attire in native kimona performed the “Karakol” dance during the procession. The Pilgrim Statue was welcomed at the Parish Church by Fr. August Pulido and other parishioners as well as visitors from other parishes of the Dioceses of Paranaque.

An hourly vigil and praying of the 4 Mysteries with Marian songs by the different village parishioners, ministries and organizations followed from 8:00 P.M. to 12:00 midnight.

Marian Exhibit

The Emapalico Homes, in coordination with the Parish of the Last Supper of Our Lord, held a Marian Exhibit at their Multi-purpose Hall beside the St Joseph the Worker Chapel from February 2 to 11, 2009. The opening ceremony was officiated by Fr. August Pulido after the February 1 7:30 A.M. Sunday Mass. Attending the opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was Congresswoman Cynthia A. Villar, Ms. Wilhelmina E, Tobias who arranged the Marian exhibit, Ms Dolores A. Real who is the Parish Village Council Coordinator and other guests.
Exibited were 38 Marian statues and icons from the different towns and municipalities of the province of Cavite and the cities of Muntinlupa and Las Pinas. A brief informative history and background of each statue/icon in display can be read. Prominent is the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes who’s feast day will be celebrated on February 11. The life history of Bernadette Soubirous and the events of the Virgin Mary’s apparition as a beautiful lady dressed in white with blue belt in the cave of Massabille in Lourdes, France and revealing herself as “The Immaculate Conception” in 1858 can be read. Here, she revealed he messages and foretold the vision of peace and unity amongst nation only if people will be prayerful especially in praying the rosary for the conversion of sinners. Many other prominent statues of the Virgin Mary like the Immaculate Seniora de Penafrancia, Nuestra Senora delos Remedios, Nuestra Seniora Mater Purissima and Mater Angustia to name a few are in exhibit courtesy of their respective owners/church.
In charge of overlooking order and welcoming visitors to the exhibit from February 2 to 10 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on weekdays and from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. during weekends was Mr. Ricardo Vida, one of the homeowner’s board of directors. Nine days of novena where the rosary is being prayed every 8:00 P.M. was held where designated coordinators from 9 different streets of Emapalico Homes takes charge. Attending the daily novena are not only the Emapalico Homeowners but from other villages of the Parish community as well. On February 11 at 5:30 P.M. the Feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, a procession of her statue together with their Patron St. Joseph the worker was held from the chapel to the Parish Church. After the 7:00 P.M. parish mass, Fr. August Pulido performed God’s healing through Mary in observance of the World day of the Sick as proclaimed by Pope John Paul II.
Hopefully, exhibits and novenas like this will always remind us of our devotion to the Virgin Mother of God on her piety and obedience to God’s will through her Son Jesus Christ.
